Pearl Harbor – December 7, 1941 – Lest We Forget.
The Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors currently has 13 active chapters with over 4,000 members in all 50 states as well as foreign countries and some who are currently serving in the military.
The Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors is a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization. We accept donations to our Memorial and Scholarship Funds.
Lt. Col. Bernard “Bernie” Rubien was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on September 15, 1918. He was the older of two boys. Bernie enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on September 16, 1940.
George F. Bland, Sr., an African American was the oldest son of seven children born on January 13, 1922 to Lewis and Frances Bland. He enlisted in the Navy on July 19, 1940 after graduating from high school.
John W. Lawhon was born April 19, 1920, in Florence County, South Carolina. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1938 with boot camp at Norfolk, Virginia. Shortly after, he was transferred to the USS Phelps.
