Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors established a scholarship for higher education in the amount of $1,000 to be awarded biennially on August 15th.  It is funded by contributions, gifts, bequests, and other sources.  Contributions are tax deductible as SDPHS is a 501(c) 3 tax exempt organization.

Applicants Must Be

  • Accepted or enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university, trade or technical school;
  • An active member of the SDPHS; and
  • A citizen of the United States.

The deadline for submitting an application is June 6th. All materials should be mailed in one package (except transcript), unfolded and unstapled in a 9” x 12” or larger envelope.

Payment of the Scholarship Award is issued by the SDPHS Treasurer directly to the Bursar or Finance Office of the student’s enrolled educational institution.

2012 was the first year in which SDPHS was able to offer a Biennial Scholarship to members. The first recipient was Laura Thayer. In 2014, Jack McCarley was selected as the recipient of the scholarship and in 2016, Joshua Hovanes was selected as the recipient. David Ross was selected in 2018 and Abigail Noe in 2020.
